Bio

I'm Tony Aston. At almost 70 years of age I have the privilege of being one of the oldest members of the Institute. I was born when Winston Churchill was in his 2nd term as Prime Minister during the Queen's Coronation year! I have only had two jobs - one as a career policeman from which I retired in 1997 following which I spent 20 years in the UK Defence Industry countering the threat from foreign espionage, finishing as Deputy Director of Security with Thales, a French defence contractor. I retired at the end of 2017 allowing me to concentrate on my work as a Fellow within the Institute,  chairing the Validation Board and serving as Board Director until the end of 2022. I am a published author and now concentrate on my writing, including military history and fiction.  I love travelling with my wife, Kay, especially to Paris, walking my dog, Harvey, and supporting Birmingham City FC. That's me!
