Bio

Retired as a Police Officer in 2009 after completing my 30 years police service, early years in Neighbourhood Policing and last 20 years of my service as a Scenes of Crime Officer (now called a CSI) including arson scene examiner. Currently I am a Designing out Crime Officer (DOCO), Crime Prevention Tactical Advisor, and the Heritage Crime Prevention Lead with Essex Police (since 2009 retirement). Since September 2022 working three days a week in these roles.
On the heritage crime prevention side, I have also participated locally, regionally and nationally on different groups and activities both with Essex Police and others. I feel honored to be part of a Historic England workshops led Mark Harrison (Head of Heritage Crime Strategy - Historic England) tackling subjects like theft of metals from the roofs of historic buildings.
Part of a team with other DOCO's, and Secured by Design partnership working with the Royal Horticultural Society at Hyde Hall promoting 'defensive planting' as a historically tried and tested tool in mitigating crime risks by using the right the plant(s) in the right place(s) within landscape design.
February 2023 registered my own company at Companies House - SJAS Heritage Crime Prevention Consultancy
